D.E.V. - Final trimester project: JJ
Below are my D.E.V. Questions
Reflection- The reason I chose these specific problems was for two reasons. The first was because I thought each problem had to do with a large part of each unit that we covered in the class and therefore answering these problems correctly could wrap up our trimester as a whole. I believe these problems provide an accurate perspective of my mathematical understanding thus far. These problems aren't neccesarily easy. Each problem was picked based on what looked like some of the other students may have struggled with. I thought that if I could successfully explain these problems that I may be able to successfully teach new coming functions students these problems. Have I learned anything from this assignment? I feel as if because we as students have now gone beyond learning the material that the problems we each picked to explain are going to be the ones we remember longer and will be more fresh for us to do when trig rolls around third trimester. So, in conclusion, yes, this assignment was educationally valuable to me.
Veronica's D.E.V. Project
For this project, I picked types of problems that took me a while for me to master. I believe these best show what I have learned this trimester because I felt these problems were a challenge for me but I understand them well and can explain them in detail. This project was slightly stressful for me because I completely forgot about it until the Sunday before it was due. Other than that, this project actually helped me think about what I was doing to get my answers. Before, I just went through the motions but this made me stop and think about what I was doing and why I was doing it.
D.E.V project - Garrett
This project proved to be very stressful at times but a great review and learning experience. My project included difficult versions of similar problems we learned throughout the year. Through this project i learn how to solve for a 3 dimensional cage , which challenged me but made the similar Farmer Ted problems simple to complete for the exam. Over all i would describe this project as stressful, a good review, and thought provoking.

Find the Area/dimensions of the following problem with the perimeter of 18ft.
This problem is more complex because instead of having just a regular flat top, the window has an arc. Because of this, you have to find 1/2 of the circumference using the radius which is 1/2 of x.
Once you find y you can plug it into the area equation so you just have to solve for x.
Once you have x, you plug it back into your perimeter equation to find the final y value.
This problem incorporates equation solving, finding the vertex, Solving for various variables, etc.
Problem 4:
Allie's Reflection:
We chose to do these concepts because they cover areas that Alexa and I struggled with throughout the trimester. These problems include various concepts that we covered throughout the year. Those concepts including: completing the square, factoring, finding inverses, finding domain, finding range, finding the vertex, long division with radicals, finding an equation using 3 points, etc. This project ended up being easier than I anticipated when we got the outline. It was also a very good way to review for the final exam because it took me through the problems more in depth than I had looked before. I did not really learn anything new from this project, it just helped me review for the final mostly.
Alexa's Reflection:
The concepts we chose for this project were chosen because I thought they were interesting concepts and some of them i had trouble learning in the trimester. These problems provide us with the best mathematical understanding because we used a wide variety of different concepts that we learned in class. I did learn something from this assignment. First, I became a lot better at finding a function with three given points. Also, there was a problem that helped me a lot with area of shapes other than a rectangle.

Reflection
I have just
completed the “To Develop your Expert Voice” project, or D.E.V. Project for
short. This project was a tedious time consuming project that at some points
were very difficult. I have put multiple hours into this final project. From
brainstorming questions, to calculating and writing my three problems out, and then
putting them into an online presentation. I believe I spent six to seven hours
on creating the questions alone and two and a half hours on each Prezi I
created for each of the three problems. I started a couple weeks out of the due
date, knowing the D.E.V. project would not be easy and short. I spent time
truly understanding how to factor high degree polynomials, finding information
from three points and even solving an insanely large radicand consisting of
higher degree polynomials, quadratics and even cubics. At some points of
working on this project, it drove me crazy by working endlessly on it. I
skipped outside activities. Even playing Fallout 4 during the weekend J. Even though this project frustrated
me, I was happy and felt accomplished with the ending results. This project
truly did help me understand the many concepts of Pre-Calculus.
Thank You and have a good day!
Mi proyecto de D.E.V.
Hello Friends, this is my D.E.V. project. I wrote it all in pen not because I don't own a pencil but because I am a rebellious 'lil soul that don't need no pencil. Also my brother told me that he once took an astrophysics exam with a sharpie so I guess it runs in the family. Anyway- enjoy reading all of this:)

Problem #1: Inverses
Problem #2: Quadratics
Problem #3: Polynomials
I chose these 3 problems because they were difficult for me the first time when you taught them to us in class. I understand them a lot more now that I have sat down and broke down each step and figured out why it works. These problems show what I have learned in this class. I learned that educationally, you have to push yourself if you want to succeed in what you are doing. I thought that this was a good project to make us look back at what we have learned throughout the trimester and applie that into our own problems.
